Ateljee Raija Käpyläs sauna products are plaster figures that have been scented with tar. Oddly enough tar is actually pretty common fragrance in finnish sauna. In olden times fluid tar was mixed with water and thrown to the sauna heater (kiuas), and this way the aroma of the tar spreaded. Nowadays when electrical heaters are widely used (and some heaters can't even have any contact with water) the same aroma can be produced by using our sauna products.
